Important questions that are good to know the answer to. Questions/problems and their solutions are divided into the following sections:

Most common problems in the game and their solutions

All my things from the bank/backpack/chest disappeared

A common Assist error. Open the bank, etc. again. If that doesn't help, exit the client (logging out is not enough) and log in to the game again.

My horse disappeared

Unfortunately, this happens sometimes. It's complicated to verify it later. To avoid this problem, try to ride the horse you mounted in the most frequented place possible and keep the horse fully healed. Do not write to the GM about such a loss of a horse.

A specific item disappeared

Unfortunately, this is one of the very annoying game bugs. Sometimes something like this just happens and there is no way to prevent it. Although we would very much like to replace such disappeared items, it is technically almost impossible, very difficult to trace back and we would spend too much time that we could devote to other game development. Surely you also understand that some players would abuse this. That is why such items are not replaced and do not write to the GM about their loss.

I am human, I see in color, but it says that I am dead and cannot perform any actions.

The cleric tried to ress you in a Non-Res zone (e.g. in a house). Go to a place where you can revive and be revived again

When I log in to my character, my original character is selected.

This happens if you try to change your character too quickly and the original character has not yet been disconnected from the server. Wait about a minute and the selection will be possible again.

I got stuck and can't move.

There are a number of places on the world map where you can get stuck like this. These are mainly places near the shore. If you get stuck, the first thing you need to do is inform the GM about the place where the problem occurred so that it can be fixed. You can find out the exact place using the ".where" command. Then use the Teleport spell to move. If you can't or don't know how to use it, use the Runebook or HELPROOM. The GM will not teleport you anywhere from these locations. Each profession has the ability to use teleportation scrolls, which can be used to get out of such places. For your own benefit, try to have some with you. You can buy teleportation scrolls from other players.

It shows me that I weight (for example) 65535

This problem occurs occasionally. Please wait for the next server restart, after which your weight will be automatically corrected or use HELP - Message to GM.

I can't drydock the ship

Drydocking the ship is sometimes a real problem. If you can't, try to find a more suitable place to drydock it (preferably a pier). In no case do not write to the GM about collapsing it - such requests will not be heard.

I used a rune (or Travel/Rune book) and still I was not moved.

After using the teleport (via a rune or Travel/Rune book) there is a certain time after which you will be moved. If you have fewer lives at the moment of the move than when you initiated the move, or a worldsave or resync took place, the move will be interrupted and you have to repeat it.

Where can I log out and where not? Are there safe places to log out?

The safest place to log out is of course your own home. If you don't own a house/apartment or don't want to use it, you can safely (immediately without delay) log out anywhere under the supervision of guards (guard zones). You must not have "crim" status to log out immediately. In public areas and nature, log out is allowed wherever there is a markable zone - i.e. where you can mark your travel book, you can also log out (non-markable zones are e.g. dungeons, Ilshenar, islands, etc.). It is forbidden to log out (spy) near frequented areas - dungeon entrances, ride spawns, etc. - this prohibition is an exception to the permission to log out in markable areas.

Problems with accounts, logging, passwords - theft and account swapping

  • Server administrators do not distinguish and have no way to detect unauthorized use of an account. For this reason, they do not take any responsibility in this regard.
  • Keep your password carefully and do not publish it anywhere. If you suspect that someone is using your account without authorization, change your password directly in the game using the ".password" command. More information at Registration – Password and how to change it.
  • Server administrators do not send current passwords of player accounts to the registration email. Therefore, do not contact them with this request under any circumstances. The reason for this measure stems from the persistent trend of selling accounts and the subsequent request for the current password by the previous owner (or the owner of the registration email). Cases of multiple sales of one account were not uncommon. Therefore, please, in your own interest, follow the rules when changing your password and do not share your password with anyone.
  • Selling and transferring accounts is not supported by GM in any way. More informations on Registration – Sale of player accounts

I have problems logging into the game due to client crashes - problem solving:

If you have problems logging into the game due to client crashes, before you write a page, first try to fix it according to the following points. In the vast majority of problems, the error will be corrected.

  1. Turn off all non-standard things (stumps, light, ...)
  2. Try logging in without assist, razor, orion, yoko, phoenix, etc.
  3. Delete the character directory under the Desktop, most often C:\Program Files\Ultima Online\Desktop\account\DARK PARADISE\Character; back up the macros.txt file somewhere (macros definition on the client)
  4. If none of this helps, it is possible that you have damaged files. This is also the case when you cannot move in a place where there is no obstacle and others are walking there. Then reinstall the entire Ultima Online and download the current map.
  5. If that doesn't help, wait for the server to restart and only if the problems persist, contact the GM for help.

My game crashed and I can't reconnect. The server tells me that my account is being used.

"Someone is already using your account" - this is a so-called "hanging account". Wait a few minutes (1-5) and then try to reconnect. Alternatively, close and restart the client. If that doesn't help, there's no choice but to wait. The server will release these hanging accounts over time. Do not contact the GM in these cases!

I set a password that is too long and I can't log in

Contact the GM, for example, on Discord or using a page from another account.

I feel like someone else is accessing my game account against my will

Immediately change your password (preferably a combination of letters and numbers, at least 8 characters) and write the following information to a GM:

  1. Account name.
  2. In what time frame do you suspect your account was stolen?
  3. Where do you play from (from home, from a gaming room, both) and who else besides you uses the same connection for UO.
  4. Who else has access to your account (brother, sister, grandmother, wife, dog, friend, etc.)

I got a kill while passing fame to another character

Passing fame is a tolerated circumvention of the system. In any case, it is not supported by the GM team. Sometimes something goes wrong and Sphere incorrectly counts the kill. The GM does not solve this problem. So please do not write a page and do not demand a fix.

I got killed during sparring (blue vs. blue skill training)

Sometimes it happens that you kill each other during training and despite being gray to each other, one of you gets a kill. This happens when the blue vs. blue player fights. Please note that the GM does not resolve incorrect kill attribution during sparring, as sparring as such is not officially supported.

I got killed when killing a member of a guild that my guild is at war with

Unfortunately, guild wars are an untested feature on our server. So if you declare war between guilds, please keep in mind that you do so entirely at your own risk and the GM will not resolve any issues related to it.

Using the Page System (HELP - Message to GM)

The Page System (HELP - Message to GM) is used to immediately inform the connected GM about game events. Use it only in urgent cases, i.e. only if none of the players are able to help or advise you. In case of unauthorized use, you will be imprisoned.

To send a message, click the HELP button and then Message to GM. Write a message and send it. The message will be displayed to the GM in the following format:

Rules for writing a Page

  • The Page system (HELP - Message to GM) is used to immediately inform the connected GM about game events. Use it only in urgent cases, i.e. only if none of the players are able to help or advise you. In case of unauthorized use, you will be imprisoned.
  • The length of the message to the GM is limited by size. If you divide the message into multiple parts, only the last part will be displayed. (The game will also notify you of this with a message).
  • GM Page messages are sorted by account and do not distinguish between individual characters. If you write a message with one character and then do the same with another, your original text will be overwritten.
  • Due to the large number of messages, GMs reserve the right not to respond to messages.
  • Most messages can only be resolved when you are ONLINE. If your message can be resolved even without your presence (OFFLINE), please include the coordinates of the problem in the message. In the case of rent payments, it is necessary to include the house number or guild number.
  • If you enter any coordinates, enter them in the form x,y,z,m (coordinates in the type 456321258 are useless to us)
  • If you are applying for rent, please indicate the number of the house (or the name of the inn and the room number) you are interested in. Pages of the type "I am interested in a house, if there is one available" are not allowed
  • If you are writing a page regarding a house, please write it directly from it, or from its vicinity, if possible. If you are logging out, if possible, do so in its vicinity
  • If the GMs do not respond to your message within 48 hours and the message is urgent, repeat it. Unhandled messages older than two days may be deleted.
  • Do not write that you have lags and need a restart. If we are in the game, we know this even without a page :)
  • Do not use the page system for personal messages to the GM, criticisms/praises of activities, etc. Discord or the forum are used for these purposes.

If your Page contradicts the rules for communication with the GM, you will be punished.

DO NOT USE the GM Page under any circumstances

  • To teleport to a certain place in case of a character getting stuck. HELP - HELPROOM is reserved for this purpose
  • In case of losing your animal - see the Taming section
  • To release your account. If your connection drops and you cannot log in - the game reports "Someone is already using your account", the client has not been disconnected correctly and the server is still registering you. The GM cannot release your account, wait until the server logs you out, or until it restarts.
  • To request any items (clothes, weapons, regs, etc.). Does not apply to paid house decoration, rent, etc.
  • To request to find other players, revive or find your things.
  • In case of unauthorized attribution of kills during saprring or fame spilling - these activities are at your own risk.
  • Write specifically what it the problem is. Otherwise, you will be punished for an unauthorized Page usage. (e.g. a page like: "pls GM come, it's important for sure")

Restoration and transfer of characters and accounts, renaming

  • Server administrators do not perform any account restoration. There is only the possibility of restoring a game character deleted due to 90 days of inactivity (accounts before 2010). However, not if the character was deleted by the player himself or the GM. For more information, see the forum or registration.
  • Server administrators do not transfer characters from one account to another or transfer skills.
  • Server administrators do not perform character renaming. However, you can request a number for your name (for example, if your name is Charles, your name can be changed to Charles IV.) or a nickname (for example, if your name is Charles, your name can be changed to Charles of Yew). However, this is only possible if you have a double in the game and the GM who is solving the problem approves the name change.

General questions about playing Dark Paradise, starting to play UO on DP, differences against other servers

What version can I play Dark Paradise with and what are the differences between the individual versions of UO?

The differences in the versions are mainly in the displayable items and are backwards compatible. This means that you can connect to DP with the latest version of UO - it is important to choose 2D mode - and you will have the same conditions as others. With older versions, there may be graphical problems with new items.

I wanted to log in to the game, but instead of going to the selection room, I got to a different place. I can see the gates, but I can't get to them because they're behind a wall.

You have a different version of Ultima Online. To run properly, you need to have the latest version of UO from the official website. Otherwise, some things will be displayed differently and you won't be able to continue playing. You also need to install the current DP map into the game, which you can find in the files section.

I have an idea for a new character or a certain change in the game. Who should I contact?

The best way is to present this idea in a clear form to some of the game GMs, or submit it for discussion to others on Discord or the game forum. It should be taken into account that the world of Dark Paradise is a complex system that has been balanced for years, in which changes are very difficult. Therefore, consider and think carefully about such proposal first, and even then, expect that it may be rejected without giving a reason.

I was in a dungeon and the server restarted. What does this mean for me?

Nothing. When the server restarts, all characters will be immediately logged out. You don't stay connected for a moment as in the case of logging out in the standard way and continue the game only when you log back in.

Will things I put on the ground disappear after a while?

The server considers discarded things as unnecessary and cleans up after a certain time. That's why the bank is used to store things. Things also won't disappear in your own house or in objects placed specifically for this purpose by the GM (for example, ingot chests in some mines).

Is there such a thing as a field of reagents?

No, in some worlds it is possible, but you won't encounter them in Dark Paradise. It is possible to get a seedling that you plant and, with proper care, it will grow into a bush from which you can harvest regs. All reagents can be purchased in sufficient quantities from vendors in cities.

I am interested in entering into a marriage in the world of Dark Paradise. What should I do?

Contact the GM who will resolve all the issues with you.

When buying from vendors, the vendor I talk to does responds.

If the vendor who should does not talk to you, start with the words "vendor_name hi" and he will respond. In most cases, however, "vendor_name buy" should work - always write the name with a capital letter at the beginning.

The vampire is a red (PK) character at the beginning of the game. Will it remain so forever?

No, it only has a negative karma. If you gain the appropriate amount of positive karma during the game, the vampire will also be a blue character.

Vendors do not train skills. Is this intentional?

Yes, it is intentional. On the Dark Paradise server, it is not possible to learn skills for money.

I have already reached the required skill value, but I still cannot perform the activity.

There are only two possible reasons. Either you don't have all the necessary things (tools, raw materials), or your real skill doesn't have the necessary value yet. You can find out your real skill by checking the "Show real" item under "Skills".
